Stranded in the snow for 3 hours

Salam! omg i was so lazy to write but i had too cause this story is too good to miss. mind you this one is quite long. Day 4 lets go.

We woke up late. hahaha. blame my fever.

We were out to the beach at 930 in the morning. couldnt bother to shower, I just brushed my teeth and wore my jacket, without the heatech, over my pyjamas. and it was snowing outside! 🌨️

Wanted to walk to the beach, but its snowing hard we went by car, and we also went to the pharmacy to buy some meds for our fever and the convenient store for…honestly dont know because we cant eat anything basically. tips #2: eventhough the ingredients looks okay, you have to see further where they always state if this product was produced by the same factory that produces meat.

early morning stroll

if you know that pyjamas of mine…

Went back home to ready ourselves for the itinerary. Note that our planned itinerary starts at 8. It was 11 when we went out the house 🙂

I had so much planned, it was supposed to be a busy day we’re going to the other side of Jeju. And then ive adjusted it to make it nearer bcs its snowing hard. So we decided to go to Alpaca world there in Jeju city. cause……we cant see them in seoul and we’re trying it here….and who doesnt want to see alpaca..

Going out the neighbourhood was so hard cause the way was so narrow it was fenced by jeju’s famous stones. The car was soo huge and there was a car coming our way, so i had to drive a little bit left and guess what, I terlanggar the batu batu. I suddenly ran into the stones!! gosh, the stones were rock solid. (obviously) The car suddenly stopped the snow from above the car were moved to the front window i cant see nothing. Had to remove the snow and go on.

our house

that stones fences!

ohh shxt, i was worrying if i have to pay for the scratches and everything and turned out we’ve paid the insurance so it was waived. Alhamdulillah.

Not long after we continue our jouney, the tire doesnt feel right. It was shaking!! bergegar gegar bawak kereta we had to stop on the side of the road and check. Pushed the emergency button because we cant go on. the tire lubang teruk! mind you we were in the middle of a highway!!!!!! omg i panicked so much. what should we do what should we do!!! we should call someone!

here’s one mistake we did, not one of us has local number. tip #3: PLEASE AT LEAST ONE OF YOU GUYS, HAVE A LOCAL NUMBER EVERYWHERE YOU GO.

so we cant call no one! the rental company have an emergency number but how do we call if we dont have local number?!!! we were so screwed actually. I was gonna get a local phone number but i changed my mind bcs..i dont see a need but now i learnt my lesson.

we were stuck not knowing what to do until an ahjussi stopped his car in front of us. not to help us but he had problems with his car or smth so we ran up to him. I told him bla bla bla this and that and he looked so 귀찮아? hm he looked so annoyed? but nevertheless he did help us to call the emergency number. it was stressful, the snow was falling hard and it was building up. he called the number and no one answered ㅠㅠ and then he called the police instead. i heard the conversation haha, “ahh i was at the side of the roadddd theres this foreigner came up to me to get help and their car have problem and they dont have korean number can you come to..(insert address)” in his ahjussi tone. i was so thankful i was gonna cry. Eventhough he looked stress but he genuinely helped us. “The police will come later” he told us and he left us and we thanked him.

in the middle of the highway

So, we wait for the police to come. I was thinking, what am i gonna do with the police what do i have to say ahhh it was so stressful. my family thankfully calmed me down. i cried a lil ngl. “i failed as their travel guide im so sorry”, thats the only thought i have at that moment. bcs, it was hard for them since the start of our journey here in korea. just too many challenges i felt bad. but this has got to be the biggest one yet.

I think we waited for like 1 hour? for the police to come. Before that, it was too long and we doubt theyre coming so we decided to seek help again. My sister got out of the car and tried to “tahan” one of them coming in, for help. A lot of them just passed by but there’s one ahjussi that stopped and help. So I tell everything again, he tried to call the police and everything…..and….the police finally came. So, the ahjussi left us. Nevertheless thank you for stopping 😭

So the police came. 2 of them. One was an ahjussi, one was an oppa. lol. I told them everything again. and the ahjussi…..ah……..he membebel to me sooo much kinda like scolding but i dont think he is..more like membebel i was sooo stressed.  He was like “What??you dont have any korean phone number?? then what r u gonna do?? just park your car here??? theres a lot of cars coming in its dangerous???its snowing hard today you shouldnt come out!!” i was like “just help us call for us instead, what should we do???” he was like “take care of it yourself!!!” wth. i just kept silent. Then the oppa police cut in and talked to me slowly, gently, he asked for the number, and asked what happened and everything, and then he suddenly complimented my korean, and he told us to stay in the car cause its cold and dangerous while he will call the rental car emergency number for us. OH IM GONNA CRY TYPING THIS. Ya Allah thank you for that oppa. He was sooo kind.

After few minutes, the ahjussi scold me again. whatever ahjussi. And the oppa police said “Ive called them and tell them where you are and your number and name, they said they will come to you and contact you. We have somewhere else to go, so just wait here and take care” -ㅠㅠㅠㅠㅠㅠㅠㅠㅠ

We got message from the rental car, through whatssap. Saying that we should wait for 2 hours atleast bcs its far and the traffic was not good bcs of the snow. 2 hours.

parked at the side

so funny 😭😂

We decided to move our car to the side of the road. why didnt i do it earlier? bcs the snow was too thick im afraid but we had no choice but to do it bcs theres too many cars coming in. so yea….we’re stranded at the side of the road, for 2 hours. Its okay, alhamdulillah that help was coming.

Theres a story of a few of us who tak tahan kencing…but im not gonna tell it here 🌝

The rental guy came! They replaced our car to a new one and…we left the place! ALHAMDULILLAH. We were stranded for 3 hours.

i felt so relieved…😭 thanks to every single ahjussi and oppa that helped. lesson: HAVE A LOCAL NUMBER ATLEAST ONE!! EVERYWHERE YOU GO. i know ive said this but i need to remind you guys again. its so important.

//omg this post is getting long.

So we moved on, we tried to continue our way to the alpaca place, cause it was like few mins away, but we were too paranoid the path going in was full of snow i dont want to be stuck again. We turned around.  Sorry, we really tried hard to see the Alpaca but Allah just didnt let us. idk, maybe the Alpaca have disease or smth.

Oh btw, this time I just let my cousin drive the car cause i cant no more. Nope. i gave up.

We turned back, made a stop at the petrol station for pee and everything that has been kept in for 3 hours…

and we continue.

We decided to go to Jeju central mosque bcs it was time to pray. The mosque was so small it only conducts like 40 men for Jumaah. It was soo warm. There were only one bathroom for both men and women but its okay. Theres a great heater. And the man who hosted us offered us Tea and biscuits. ALLAHU.

the entrance was almost invisible

the host and the small mosque

I was so touched. Bcs, eventhough Allah put us in difficult situation, Allah does helped us through by sending us good people our way.

We, who were always hungry, ate the whole packet of biscuits and he even opened another one. 🥲 The tea was particularly very delicious…..may Allah bless him. Hes a master student there. please pray for his and he’s loved ones, Jannah everyone here reading this.

So we continue our journey. With nothing left to do but go back. Our itinerary was crushed. Nothing’s checked.

and actually, it was okay. I was happy. I was happy with Allah plan.

Allah brought us to the mosque. and we take a slow stroll down through the town, with windows down, snow pouring down, the maghrib sky there was beautiful, jeju is a really serene and quite town, we looked out the view, the mandarins…the cute stores, the cars, the town covered in white, it was subhanallah beautiful. Us, taking it slow, driving slow and looking out, was actually the best thing we did. really appreciating Jeju city. Yea, eventhough the snow’s going down, but it was not as bone hurting cold as seoul. Juuuuust nice. I love it. ah i didnt take much pictures but my mind will always remember it vividly.

Then we had our dinner, restaurants were open that day hehe. then, we stopped at the bakery around the corner to get some bread cause we’re still hungry.

and, theeeen!! We saw a group of korean teenagers playing with snow and we couldn’t help but to play too. We played with snow, had snow fights, my cousin did the angel snow thing, i tried making snowman but man it was easier said than done is it!! it was so hard to make I can only make 2 small balls. It was so much fun ㅠㅠ until my fever kicked in again i had to stay in the car while waiting for them continue playing with snow.

small snowman

thick thick snow

ah….my heart warmed. Thank you Allah for everything. For your beautiful plan for us.

Our “bad” day ended on a high note. We were all happy.

Not wanting to leave Jeju and regretting not staying for 1 more night…we pack for Seoul and fell asleep…

Stay tuned for the next day!
