New year, New Resolutions

Hi everyone, first of all, Happy 2018 everybody! I hope 2017 has been a great year for you, and a year that have given you so many life lessons that encouraged you to be a better person in the future. I know, every year, there are so many new resolutions that we are trying to tick off for this year. Ive seen so many of you guys' resolution through out twitter, instragram stories and what not, and one thing that attract me the most is to be a better person. No matter how different we are, how everyone is coming from a different backgrounds, we all stands for one simple goals which is to be a better person. The question is, how better you want to be? On which aspects that you say you want to be better in? For who? How are you going to do it? Maybe, through out 2017, some of you are not a good person at all and have your mind set to be a completely different person, and maybe some of you are already a good person but are trying to improvise yourselves. Or to be more specific, you once hurt your family, or your friends by having this bad character that saddens them. Then you want to be a better person by removing that character. On the other hand, the affected people also want to be a better person by accepting the new you and love you back.
The point is, by a single sentences "To be a better person" leads us to an endless list of acts that comes from so many different people. I am curious about what is your "To be a better person" means. I would love to read all of your detailed version of the to be a better person sentence. Feel free to share it with me, and email me. Then maybe we can help each other to really achieve our resolutions for this year. Trust me, the feeling of sharing is unbeatable.
So, of course i am not left out by this group, I also want to be a better person. Especially with these lessons i got in 2017.
My detailed version of I want to be a better person is:
1. To be punctual in everything.
For the past few years, i am trying to be as punctual. But the people around me, affected me and i am influenced by them to not be punctual. Ive seen this vlog by Aida Azlin (You guys have to check her out) and everytime she was late to meet a friend, her husband would tell her, "Do you know how disrespectful it is?, Becuase youre not respecting the person you are meeting and youre not respecting his time" and that made me realize something. I am being so selfish that i even sengaja melewatkan masa. We have to stop normalizing this "janji melayu" thing. Time is precious guys. There are sooooo many things that could have been done during our wasted time. We are told about this since we were kids that Masa itu emas. Being punctual is not just not wasting our time but also will respect your friend's time. Its the small things. Our punctuality should not be overlooked. It says a lot about our character. As i said, i am trying be as punctual as i can. But my environment are not helping me. I hope this year, I am going to be an example for my friend to be punctual and hopefully will change their habit of not punctual.
2. To be always "bersangka baik" with people
I am trying my best to not judge the people surrounding. I tend to judge people a lot and i feel really bad for them. Because, it is easier to judge than actually trying to understand the person. They might be having so many problems that they dont have options. There are so many different stories in each of us in this world. So yeah. Not judging. In Shaa' Allah.
There are so many more in my new year resolution's list. But these two falls into the category that i'm talking about today. I hope this year, helps me to be the better person i want to be. I will pray for us to achieve not just being a better person, but also all our goals for this year. and i have a feeling that this year, will be a good year.
Thank you for reading.
